Poetry - An Ode To Summer

  An Ode To Summer

The

 hamlet on the top of the mountain,

The ice blue river,

The houses with slanted roofs,

All reminds me of a distant land.

Where the fairy tales emanate from;

Where the Gods and Goddesses

Enjoy the nectar of Heaven for eternity.

Yet the north wind blows,

The solitary tree bows to kiss the mother earth

The valley whispers “My Child”

Yonder I hear the footsteps of summer.

"An Ode To Summer" is a beautifully evocative piece that instantly transports the reader.
The poem successfully blends a sense of specific place ("The hamlet on the top of the mountain," "ice blue river," "slanted roofs") with a feeling of the mythic and eternal ("fairy tales," "Gods and Goddesses," "nectar of Heaven"). This duality creates a truly serene and inspiring atmosphere.
The shift in the final stanzas—from the majestic, distant vision to the more intimate and grounded actions of the "north wind blows" and the "solitary tree bows"—is particularly powerful. It grounds the poem, making the eventual soft anticipation of the season with "Yonder I hear the footsteps of summer" feel gentle and personal.
This is a wonderful first post for "Reflections and Inspirations," offering a peaceful escape and a genuine moment of poetic reflection. A lovely start to this new chapter! 🌄
